Last month we celebrated our club’s 10 year anniversary on July 12th at the Miller Black Bear trails and held a trail clean up day the follow Saturday. Both events went very well. The Crosby Courier published about half page article for us. Thanks again to everyone for all your help. It was a lot of fun.

Our club and the Central Lakes club hosted a booth at the county fair last week. We handed out a lot of maps/club information and signed up some new members. Thanks to everyone for helping out.

Last Saturday Tom & Austin Simon, Kerry Baker and myself work on the section six parking and camping area. We expanded the parking and camping area. We mowed the grass trim & cut trees. The area is looking very good. Thanks guys.

Trail Clean up day July 19th

The Cuyuna Iron Range Riders had our first trail cleanup day on Saturday July 19th. 26 people came. Several of the guys brought small yard trailers to haul the trash out of the trail area. We hauled 76 tires, 3 TV’s, 2 mattress, beer can, beer bottles, food rappers, carpeting, construction junk, wood, oil bottles, lawn chairs, kitchen sink, hood vent, vinyl siding, computer, vcr, a shower, and paper trash. We made two trips to the Crow Wing County land fill. There is still more trash and junk out there. We had a trail side lunch for all the volunteers. I want to thank Lori Kortum and Deb Mathison for preparing the food and paying for all of it. A BIG THANK YOU to all the people that volunteered. Cuyuna Iron Range Riders you’re the best.

I applied in March, to Yamaha Motor Corporation, for a grant for the Miller Black Bear trails. Our club received a grant for eight thousand dollars. We are very excited because the the grant money will help us build our trail kiosks, trail posts, a bridge, and hiring a local contractor for grading and gravel.
