Below is a press release from Crow Wing County. There is a proposal to build a gun shooting range on 84 acres of County Land that borders Iverson road, this is close to our Miller Black Bear trails. This is an area that our club would like to expand trails to make connections to the Mississippi River Northwoods Trail. There are currently some trails in that area, that we hope to use. If this would be approved it would stop any trail expansion there. The county is taking pubic comments, the comment period ends this Sunday, it’s urgent please send your comments.
Our next club meeting is this coming Saturday at 9 a.m., at the Ironton Legion, 232 4th Street. We will be riding trails in the Fond Du Lac State Forest near Cromwell, MN. This is Russell and Mark’s hometown area. Our club rode there three years ago they are nice scenic trails. Bring some sandwiches, snacks and beverages for the ride. There are not any restaurants in Cromwell.
Last month we had our Explore MN ride with Over the Hills Gang ATV Club. There were 52 people and 38 machines on the ride everyone had a good time. OTHG brought sandwiches and chips for everyone, our club brought pop and bottled water. You can see lots pictures on our club Facebook page.
In other good news, Sue Sasse is our new Club secretary. Sarah Phillips had been it for many years. Thank you Sue for accepting the position and thank you Sarah for all those years.
Please welcome our new club members Mark Walters and Jim & Pat Dearing.
Dale Carry and David Wille have been out working on trails in the Mississippi River Northwoods area. Great job guys!
Crow Wing County Commissioners are discussing a shooting range proposal off of Iverson Road, it is an 84 acre parcel that boarders Iverson Road. It is not far from the Miller – Black Bear Trails. There are currently some trails in this area, if this is approved it will affect our riding area. There have been articles in the Crosby newspaper.

The storms from last Wednesday evening dropped a couple of inches of rain and high winds. We had over 40 trees down on the trails at Miller Black Bear and Mississippi River Northwoods.
With the help of some club members the trails all cleaned up and ready for use this weekend. We are excited to see everyone at the club meeting and picnic on Saturday.

Last month we held our meeting at the section 6 trail head area. I don’t have any club minutes to share, no one took minutes and our meeting did not last long. Afterwards we broke up into a couple of groups and rode the trails picking up trash in the Miller Black Bear area and the Mississippi Northwoods area.
We hauled four trailers of tires cans; TV tubes, bottles, sheet medal and even a handicap walker to the county land fill. We got a lot done for the short time we were there, it started to snow and we all left early. Thank you to everyone for help out.
Some of the trails do need to be brushed; Dale, Larry Moses and Richard are going to be taking care of that soon. If you would like to help let me know we always need more people. Overall the trails are in pretty good shape.
The Crosby parade, Because of Brandon charity ride and county fair have all been canceled due to the virus. We have not gotten any information from the DNR when we can host our ATV safety training class.
