Trail Work Canceled.

Hi Everyone,
From Andrew and I,

We are canceling the trail work for tomorrow, its been raining all week and the trails are all wet and muddy. We are going to have a our regular meeting at 9 am. This is a big disappointment for many of us, were looking forward to getting out to work on the trails. Let’s keep an eye on the weather forecast maybe next weekend we can get out there.
See ya at the meeting. Ken

Hi All,
It’s going to be too wet and muddy to be on the trails this weekend with 4 wheels. So, trail work is not going to happen this Saturday, we will discuss rescheduling on Saturday.  Also a reminder, I am putting together an order for t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Check your email, website and Facebook for the form. I will have some at the meeting.
See you Saturday.
Andrew

April 10, 2021 – ATV Club Meeting

Hi Everyone,

Our next club meeting is this coming Saturday April 10, 9 am at the Ironton Legion, 232 4th Street.  Please note the time change.  All of our meetings until October we will now start at 9 am.

I’m cancelling the pancake breakfast this month, we will plan on doing that some other time.  The weather looks partly sunny and mid 50’s for Saturday.  Let’s get out and work on the trails, if the weather is permitting.  Jason is going to bring his skid steer and spread the tailings, we had delivered last fall.  Please bring some hand tools, tree trimmer, chain saw, rakes, shovels, we will clean up any brush or downed trees.  We will replace any missing trail signs too and clean up around the picnic sites and pick up trash.

Keep track of hours worked, Russ needs that so our club gets reimbursed.  Also keep track of your gas mileage on your vehicle and your 4 wheeler.  They are allowable grant in aid expenses.  You will get reimbursed.  If you are bringing equipment please contact, Russ he has the allowable rates from the DNR, he can help figure that out for you. H 218-825-0441  C 218-851-4227.

I have a small gas grill and I will bring some hotdogs and buns, lets grill hotdogs on the trail. Bring something to share if you want.  Keep it simple.

Last month we had some good discussions about getting a safe trail route into Crosby Ironton and connecting the Miller Black Bear Trail and the Mississippi Northwoods together.  Doug Houge Crow Wing County Commissioner, Dale Lueck our state representative, Jim Hunter Crosby Mayor, and Greg Stanich Ironton Mayor, and Gary Griffin Crow Wing County Lands Services were there.  The meeting was very positive.

Next month we are having club elections for vice president, treasurer and one board member. I will take nominations.

We also collect our club dues in May, $15.00 for individual and $20.00 for family, Business’s are $35.00.  You can pay at the meeting.  This will make it easier on the Treasure, so she won’t have to do all of them next month.  If you are sending a check, please make it payable to Cuyuna Iron Range Riders and mail it to P.O. 301 Crosby, MN 56441-301

Tim Sink sent me a message our next club meeting and ride is May 8th, at the Moose River trails. They are closed until May 15th, lets pick another trail.

March 13, 2021 – ATV Club Meeting

Hi Everyone,

Our Club Meeting is this coming Saturday, March 13th, 10 am at the Ironton Legion, 232 4th Street.

At our last meeting we made up our 2021 ride schedule; we are going to ride a couple of new trails. We have some great rides planned.

We are having an ATV Safety Training on June 26 th at the Legion, it has been posted on the DNR website. Please save the date, we need your help.

At this time per DNR Covid rules, we are only allowed 15 people in the class room and that includes the instructor, the class will fill up fast.

We decided to move our Club Picnic from July to September.

Perry May Club President from the Over the Hills Gang ATV Club gave a presentation on photo selfie stations.

We are going to place photo selfie stations on both of our trail areas this year. People can set their phone on the photo kiosk and take a picture and post it on Facebook. We can see how many people are riding our trails and where they are coming from. It will be fun.

Our Club Elections are coming up in May for Vice President, Treasurer and one Board Member. It is an all-volunteer position. If you’re interested, I will take nominations.

I’m going to stay after the meeting and have lunch, you’re welcome to join me.

February 20, 2021 – ATV Club Meeting

Hi Everyone,

It’s that time again, our club meeting is this coming Saturday, February 20th, 10am at the Ironton Legion 232 4th street.

Last month there was a great turnout for our member appreciation lunch. Rep Dale Lueck joined and gave us an update from the capitol.

Ben Mooers from Minnesota ATV attended and presented our club with a check for $1,000.00.  We really appreciate their generous support and plan to use the money on our trails.

ATVAM has changed their name to ATVMN and they have hired a new company to publish their magazine.  You will no longer receive the Minnesota Off Road magazine, the new magazine is Wheelin Minnesota.  The new magazine will be out next month.  I have heard a lot of good things about it, Dave Halsey has worked a lot on it.

You will still be getting the six issues with your paid membership to our state association ATVMN.

Barb our Treasure has family plans on Saturday and will not be able to attend.

The food was very good, most of us stayed around afterwards and had a good time talking.

You can see pictures from the meeting on our Facebook page.

Let’s make some new plans for the riding season.
